Previously, as Clinical Director of Kids In The Middle, John provided and supervised divorce-related services to more than 300 families and 450 children annually and the trauma-related treatment of more than 650 children in 23 St. Louis City elementary schools.

As Senior Therapist and Director of Outpatient Services at The Child Center, a diagnostic and variable-length intensive treatment facility, John treated children and families with severe relational problems. While at Youth Emergency Service, he reunited runaway youth with their families. At DePaul Health Center, he treated acute behavior children and their families on both an inpatient and outpatient basis. At St. Louis Mental Health Center, a division of the Missouri Department of Mental Health, he worked with families to avoid the removal of children from their home.

John created and directed the Peaceful School Learning Environment Project, a multi-disciplinary task force to inspect, identify, and Prevent violence in school and school systems in conjunction with the National Crime Prevention Council and the Menninger Clinic.

John earned his A.B. from Princeton University and attended the George Warren Brown School of Social Work at Washington University. He was awarded an Eleanor Roosevelt Fellowship and received an MSW with a concentration in family studies. He went on to study at the St. Louis Psychoanalytic Institute and completed its Advanced Psychotherapy Program. John is also certified in Levels I + II by the EMDR Institute and has completed mediation, parenting coordination, and interdisciplinary collaborative divorce training. Currently, he is a court-approved Divorce Mediator and Parenting Coordinator, and a Collaborative Coach and Child Specialist.

He has been active in a wide variety of civic and professional organizations, including the Psychiatric Diversion Team of the Children’s and Family Services Division of the Missouri Department of Social Services, the Marriage and Family Therapy Committee for St. Louis University Ph.D. students, and the Executive Committee of Princeton University’s Alumni Council. He has been on the boards of the St. Louis Psychoanalytic Institute’s Advanced Psychotherapy Alumni Group and the Collaborative Family Law Association of St. Louis. He has been a clinical field instructor for graduate students at Washington University, St. Louis University, and the University of Missouri. John is on the Planning Committee of the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts in St. Louis.
